‘This is a great opportunity to witness the professionalism and training that our public safety agencies provide the citizens of Emmet County.’ North Central Michigan College has coordinated with Harbor Springs Police and Fire departments, Emmet County EMS, CCE Dispatch and other agencies to facilitate an actual life-saving training scenario on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Meyer ACE Hardware, 1030 State Road in Harbor Springs. METIman, North Central’s simulator or sim-man, will be at the store from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for demonstrations and public education on cardiac health and public response to emergencies. AHA training videos and materials will be available for the public.

The Simulator will become the patient as part of an interactive emergency response by your Public Safety Agencies to a cardiac event from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The public is encouraged to witness the partnership and teamwork required by all public safety agencies as they respond to the simulation.  This is a great opportunity to witness the professionalism and training that our public safety agencies provide the citizens of Emmet County.

METIman simulates true human physiology and delivers a more objective learning experience. He is a preferred simulator for indoor-outdoor or interdisciplinary scenarios requiring triage, treatment and transport.  North Central’s Allied Health/EMS programs offer this state-of-the-art training as part of their core EMS education curriculum as well as community and regional public safety training. The Public and Schools are invited to bring your families and classes to Meyer ACE Hardware any time during the 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. demonstration time to meet your emergency responders and receive American Heart Association materials.  All the responders and college staff will be available to answer questions.
